Winter time in Crete is an opportunity for the locals and the few tourists to enjoy the island and the lovely mild weather. Many establishments are usually closed during this season because there are fewer visitors to provide service to. Winters in Crete are used as a time for locals to tend to their olive fields , range trees or prepare for the next busy summer.

These days however, while winter in Crete may not remain as lively as its summer months, visitors now opt to stay longer in the island even when the busy season of summer is over. There are still some things one can do to enjoy a very relaxing holidays. the visitors can see the real Crete and enjoy a very mild weather. With temratures being around 20 degrees.

Winter in Crete begins in November and extends up to March. The weather during this season is very unpredictable ---- sometimes mild (November or December), sometimes really cold (January or February) and sometimes with very heavy rainfall in between. Fortunately, the sun still smiles on Crete even during winters and visitors can look forward to sunny weather on some days. The mountains may be covered in snow but surprisingly, you can enjoy a cup of coffee by the patio even when you're just in regular clothing with a t-shirt.

The locals go about their day-to-day business. Most resorts, bars and taverns may be closed, but there are loads of shops and restaurants that continue to open and accommodate tourists and locals. And in place of a lively party scene, nightlife during winters in Crete is pleasant, relaxed and cozy. And this is usually spent in cafes, diners, restaurants or outdoors, under a bonfire.
