Light-Hearted Travel Writing in Feta Compli, a New Book About Things Greek, Available at Lulu.com
Rhodes, Greece (PRWEB) June 25, 2007 -- If you've read any Peter Mayle or, for that matter, Peter Kerr's "Majorcan" chronicles, then you'll enjoy "Feta Compli!" - the new paperback by John Manuel. It's the story of how a young aspiring "Hippie" back in the early 1970's met and eventually married a half-Greek girl in Bath, England, resulting in a gradual transformation from someone who only vaguely knew where Greece was on the world map, to someone who ended up living there. But it took him over 30 years! It started with various visits to his wife's Greek relatives in Athens and the Peloponnese, carried on through various quirky experiences whilst holidaying on a diverse selection of islands and ended up in 2005 with John and his wife Yvonne-Maria selling up, buying a ropy old Mitsubishi van and driving the length of Europe to end up in their new home on Rhodes, surviving the journey virtually intact, minus one exhaust bracket.

About the Author
John Manuel worked as a graphic designer for many years in the UK, both as a freelancer and in various studios until he and his wife decided that the quality of life would be much better if they made a radical change. He was born in Bath, England in November 1953 and educated at what was then the City of Bath Boy's School. He and his wife moved to South Wales in 1981 and, by the time they left to make the trip to Rhodes, he'd become an "honorary Welshman" as - in his words - "I couldn't conscientiously support England against Wales in the Six Nations any more!" If you aren't familiar with the "Six Nations" Rugby Union Tournament, how sad!
They made a life-decision not to have children early in their relationship and this left them free to enjoy all kinds of pursuits in the 30-plus years of their marriage so far; including travel to quite a few other places apart from Greece, although Greece always featured in their travel plans owing to the obvious family connections of Yvonne-Maria.
